July: Cruise to Tilghman Island:
Tilghman Island is next to Poplar Island on the Eastern Shore. It remains primarily a fishing community- all the history of Oxford or St. Michaels without all the tourists. Sail down on Saturday (approximately 5hrs +/-2hrs depending on wind) to the Knapps Narrows (Due south past Thomas Point Light, far side of Poplar Island left toward crane used in the construction of the the new Knapps Narrows Bridge). I recommend reserving a slip with the Tilghman Island Marina. Rooms for the less hardy are available next door at the Tilghman Island Inn. Matt will be hosting a crab feast at a nearby cottage 1.5 blocks away that evening. Sail back on Sunday. Contact Matt for details.
This was a huge success in '97 . '98 was also a great success. We extended the party to several days and had much the same great time. Next year will be one main day and more free time for the cruisers and the hosts.
For 1999, the details remain about the same. Everyone will congregate at the local pubs/resterants during the weekend in smaller groups. On Sunday, everyone is invited to the Mayfields for a Crab party. Bring drinks (Beer, etc) and something (like a salad) to share with the group. The Mayfields will supply the Crabs and the sunset.
